I know there are quite a few knitters in my neighborhood, so I thought I'd ask this question for a friend. She's getting married at the end of August and would like to knit a wedding-appropriate shrug or shawl or other wrap-like thing. She doesn't want to have sleeves on her dress, but also doesn't want to have bare shoulders in church.
So, post your favorite shrug/wrap/shawl pattern in the comments please!
Crazy Aunt Purl came to Nashville to read from her book
Drunk, Divorced and Covered in Cat Hair! She was at the Barnes & Noble at Opry Mills. So I went :) With a couple friends from my Monday night knitting group. She was funny and poignant and talks with a *very* Southern accent. There was a woman in the audience whose laugh was incredibly contagious, so we all got pretty tickled at one point and Crazy Aunt Purl even had to stop her reading to laugh :) I'm very glad I went, as it was a nice break from my stressful week.I'm now on Ravelry.com! My user name is librarychic (of course). I have a couple of my finished objects up now, but nothing that I'm working on at the moment. It may be quite a while before things get added. Recent events seem to be conspiring to prevent me from having much fun.
Anyway - friend me if you're on there! If you're not - go sign up!!
People seriously underestimate knitters. Seriously. It is a good thing that we do not use our powers for evil (mostly) because if we ever took it into our collective heads to mess somebody up I shudder to think what would happen, and how quickly. You people are a force to be reckoned with and if you weren't feeling powerful when you got up this morning, then dudes...you should be now. I think we should get tee-shirts that say "Be nice. I'm a knitter, and I'm on a big team."
